BPA Free Food Storage and Toys

First and foremost, I'm a mom.  I have 3 young children aged 8, 5, and a newborn.  Along with my husband, I try my very best to give them the very best upbringing possible.  BPA free products has always been at the back of my mind when buying things for them and with the latest articles stating that BPA can cross the blood brain barrier to hurt a developing brain, I've decided to be even more proactive in using BPA free products.

Here is a good rule for when you should use BPA free products:

Is the item in contact with food or drinks?  Does your child put the item in their mouth - even occasionally? Do you heat food or liquid in it?  And is there a chance that your child might be chewing on it?

Here is a good selection of toys, teethers, and BPA safe foodware that I've found.

Act with Integrity

I love this quote.  It is how we run our business - with absolute integrity.

NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator for Babies

If you have a baby, I would HIGHLY recommend adding a NoseFrida Nasal Aspirator to your stash of baby necessities.  It seriously sounds like the grossest thing ever - to be sucking the snot out of your baby's nose with your mouth, but this thing works!!  And there are disposable filters in place that prevents snot and bacteria from getting INTO your mouth.

This cold season, my poor little newborn caught 2 colds - one of them being RSV.  It sucked.  He was congested, he was coughing, and we were doing breathing treatments.  But one thing he did not have was a stuffy nose!  He actually enjoyed getting the snot sucked out.  He felt immediately better!  Babies can't blow their nose and don't know how to suck it down either so it's up to us to get it out.  The blue bulb syringe really doesn't work and it gets so gross inside.  I've even heard of some parents saying that mold grew in them because they couldn't dry it out.

With the NoseFrida, you can see exactly how much gunk you got out of your baby's nose and then to clean it, you just detach the tube, throw out the filter, and clean.

If you have one, how did you like it?

Oriental Chicken Salad

The oriental chicken salad is one of my favorites and is very easy to put together.  I usually buy the pre-shredded bags of iceberg lettuce, cabbage, and carrots to save time and combine them in equal amounts to form the base.  The following is what I usually combine to make one serving for lunch.

Ingredients:

1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
1 cup shredded green cabbage
1 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup diced chicken breast
1/2 cup crispy chow mein noodles (La Choy makes a good one)
1/8 wedge of lime
2 ounces of any Thai peanut or honey lime dressing

Directions:

Squeeze lime wedge over salad.  Toss everything together in a bowl and enjoy!

A Bride's To-Do List

Congratulations on your recent engagement!  Wedding planning can be as much fun as you want it to be or as stressful as you make it.  I highly recommend making it fun and relaxing.  Take a look at these tips for a great start!

Asian Crunch Salad

I love to cook but lately with a newborn that hasn't really happened.  I do love salads because they're so easy to put together and this Asian Crunch Salad is super delicious!

 Recipe for 2 Servings:

2 cups thinly sliced napa cabbage
1/2 cup thinly sliced red cabbage
1/2 cup thinly sliced green papaya
1/2 cup thinly sliced diakon radish
1/2 cup julienned carrots
1 cup diced chicken breast
1/2 cup fried wonton strips
1 wedge of lime squeezed over salad

Toss all together with your choice of asian style dressing.  One of my favorites is the spicy peanut vinaigrette from Trader Joes.  It would also taste great if you added matchstick cucumbers, avocado, bell peppers, and/or mandarin oranges.
